The Liaison
officer today was Ms. Nasreen Hosseney and she escorted us to Indira Gandhi Center for Indian Culture IGCIC complex at 1000hrs in the
morning. At 1030hrs there was a Stage
Rehearsal at IGCIC complex at Phoenix, where we rehearsed the choreography in
coordination with the sound system. The new premises of IGCIC at Phoenix was
inaugurated on March 11, 2000 by Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime
Minister of India and Dr Navin Chandra Ramgoolam, the then Prime Minister of
Mauritius. The entire area of the IGCIC is 20,000 sq.m. with a unique structure
reflecting the beauty of the Indian architecture in a lush green
layout.
In the Lunch hosted for the Group at the IGCIC.
At 1230 hrs a Lunch was organised at IGCIC dining room and was hosted by the Director for the Kalarippayat
demonstration team. We were served vegetarian Indian meal: rice and curries and
rasmalais as dessert. We had a
chance to meet the second secretary, Indian high commission Smt. Suja Menon and
other signatories. There were also noted artists and dancers at the
lunch.
At 1400 hrs we returned to our Hotel
and took rest anticipating the performance in the evening.

At 1600hrs, the eleven member team
represented by Shri Syed Tajul Hasan and led by Shri Murugan Gurukkal, left the
hotel for the Indian High commission in Port Louis, accompanied by the Liaison officer
of the Mauritian tourism Ministry. At 1615 hrs our group reached the Indian high
commission and gave a courtesy call at the High commissioner of
India office at Port Louis.

The High Commissioner HE Shri Madhusudan Ganapati attended the Meeting with the group in the meeting hall and
exchanged information from us. He discussed our previous performances, the scope
of martial arts in Mauritius
and our stay in Mauritius and briefed us about the
Mauritian culture.

The meeting was dispersed after 25 odd minutes, after which he gave us time and privilege to have memorable photographs with us.
